The Nora School Diamond Jubilee

April 26, 2024

Dear Friends,

On this occasion, The Nora School was seen and heard for its established reputation in the community. Our Diamond Jubilee was all I had dreamed of:

  • Wrapped in a warm embrace by those who were such important parts of our past: Our former head, former teachers and staff, alumni and families.

  • Supported by (and celebrating!) teachers and students currently making Nora such a special educational experience

  • Acknowledged by all our public officials who took the time to show up and connect with us: US Congressman Jamie Raskin, MD State Senator Will Smith, Vice President Councilmember Kate Stewart and Council Member Evan Glass. Stop by to see the wonderful Proclamations and Congratulations they each left with us

  • Appreciated in keynote addresses by Judy Gelman, Dr. Valaida Wise, Dave Mullen and Elaine Mack

  • Sustained into the future for programming and scholarships with the generosity of all our many donors; Special thanks to those who came forward to support The Social Justice Travel Fund, The Alicia Sumner Memorial Fund and our new Darrell C. Lewis Scholarship

It was such an honor to be with all of you. My heart is full of gratitude and true amazement at the big impact our small school makes.

Next week is a normal week, with the exception of Social Justice travelers departing Wednesday very early in the morning.

The following week is Intersession. Please see itineraries from each Group Leader for the daily schedule.

There will be no newsletter next week.

Peace,
Mara
