Fossil Fun!
Dear Friends,
The Summer Program at Nora , though just a one year plan, provided many opportunities—a chance to earn credit, or just to have fun with fossils—that’s one Sara (Class of 2023) uncovered in a stream bed (see picture above). Other students wrote definition and persuasive papers, and studied the art of researching online, while still others played with numbers in all sorts of ways--algebraically, as consumers, or in consideration of the impact of student loans. We practiced showing up in person every day and we greeted new families, either at our wonderful picnic, or those who were visiting for admissions. Thanks to Cheyenne, Brennan and Nisaa for making this new, untested idea the real thing!
We are also renovating downstairs. We expanded the old computer room and gym into a spacious classroom where Christina will teach next year. We moved the gym equipment into a larger space at the back of the school, and we replaced the floors in the science lab, art room and kitchen. We also installed a new sink in the art room! All those who contributed to the Annual Campaign last year helped make these renovations possible! Thank you!
We will finish moving furniture back into those rooms the second week of August. Come see the changes at our Orientation Picnic on August 26. (I will say more about Orientation in the next newsletter)
The Nora School will return to full in person classes and schedule starting August 30. Please be sure to get your vaccination before the first day of school.
Peace,
Mara
